St John’s School is a unique learning environment, offering small class sizes and a seamless transition from Kindergarten to Junior and through to Senior School. We aim to provide a caring, purposeful, and encouraging environment where happy and hardworking pupils are taught in small classes by dedicated and experienced teachers.
Prospective parents and pupils are warmly invited and encouraged to visit for a personal tour or to attend one of our whole school Open Day Events. Our next Open Day with tour availability is on Saturday 5th October 2024. Tours will commence at 10am, 11am and 12pm, please contact our Registrar to book an Open Day tour or alternatively to arrange a personal tour on a separate date prior to October.
September 2024 Admissions
Our key entry points at St John’s are children going into Pre-Reception, Reception, Form 1 (Year 3) and Upper 3 (Year 7).
If you are interested in your child entering in September 2024 please visit us for a tour of the school and then complete the online Registration Form and we will then be back in touch to start the admission process.
Mid-Year Admissions – Academic Year 2024-25
Once the term commences in September 2024, if you are interested in your child joining St John’s mid academic year please contact our Registrar, who will be able to discuss the mid-year admissions process.
Pre-Reception admissions for children aged 2 to 4 years occur throughout the year. Most parents choose for their child to join at the beginning of a main term however mid-year start dates are possible, subject to availability of spaces. Please speak with our Registrar.
Reception Entry September 2025
If your child will be turning 4 after 1st September 2024 and before 31st August 2025, they will be starting in Reception in September 2025. Our Reception class sizes are smaller than average and children have a varied curriculum including weekly swimming, fortnightly forest school and PE, music and computing lessons taught by subject specialists.

Senior School Entry September 2025
If you would like your child to be considered for a place in Upper 3 (Year 7) from September 2025, please complete a Registration Form and return it with a non-refundable Registration Fee of £100. Our Registrar will then be in contact to book your child onto one of our assessment dates. Our 2025 Senior Entrance Assessments will take place on Monday 11th November 2024 and Monday 19th January 2025, for possible entry to Upper 3 (Year 7) in September 2025.
The assessment will comprise of English, Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning examination papers. Candidates will also have an informal interview with our Senior Leadership Team.
Senior School Taster Day
We are pleased to announce that our Year 5 Senior School Taster Day, one of our most popular admission events, will be taking place on Wednesday 26th June 2024. Due to its popularity we are delighted to announce a further date for children interested in admission for September 2025. A further Year 6 Senior School Taster Day will be held on Tuesday 15th October 2024, please contact our Registrar if you would like your child to attend.
